Creativity can equal insanity

I like pretty, unique things. Some of these things can be very expensive. I don't have a lot of spare money for the "pretty, unique things" category. Therefore, I scour for look-a-likes, save for what I want and sometimes I dabble with diy projects.

Since I am currently taking a break from the soda bottle labels that we are making for our wedding, this post is about the latter. Is it worth it to spend so much time diy-ing rather than paying for the product? As an economics major, Nick would have a lot to say about this subject. All I have to say is yes.

I don't have a ton of time right now, but money is even scarcer. (See sentence three of this post.) Also there is a lot of satisfaction that comes through creating; be that through writing, cooking, painting, web design, whatever. I have had fun with my friends doing invitations and Nick and I are so proud of what might look like a novices website. To us it is the best website ever designed. (At least for a wedding, by us.)

Here are some of the projects that I am working on or considering.

Really cute vintage-esque shoes.

Simple cake topper that I want to use for one of the centerpieces.

These will be for the top of the wedding cake.

  1. I know right? I am going to make some version or other of all of them. Thank goodness that my time isn't worth much, otherwise the time that I put into them would make them pretty expensive and that would defeat the purpose of doing it myself.;)
