Halloween weekend movies

Alright all you ghouls and girls, Halloween is just around the corner. Do you know what you're costume is going to be? Do tell, I'm still brainstorming.

But, since it's not til Monday, I wanted to share some of my favorite spooky movies to get you into a Halloween mood all weekend long. I think scary movies and stories are an integral part of any Halloween holiday.

In fact, yesterday early morning when I was walking to my car to drive to the gym I remembered the story about the girl who was driving along a somewhat abandoned road and a semi truck behind her kept driving very close and flashing his lights at her. She got really scared and pulled over to the next gas station and ran inside away from the driver. But he explained that there had been a man in the back seat with a knife and every time he flashed his lights the man had slunk down, saving her life. Moral of the story: Always check the backseat.

Anyway here are my flick picks:

Hocus Pocus is a Halloween classic. If you like centuries old curses, witches, the undead and teenage romances than this movie is for you. If for nothing else, there are some hilarious parts with Bette Midler and Sarah Jessica Parker.

The Goonies is not strictly speaking a Halloween movie, but it has that same fall feeling that makes me nostalgic for the autumns of my youth. (Now I will begin a sentence with, when I was young, to cement my maturity in your minds.) When I was young, I would watch this movie in suspense wondering who was going to get their fingers chopped off or be frozen to death. I also love that it centers around prison breakouts and a treasure hunt.

  4. I'm ashamed to say this but I've never seen The Goonies(that's going to change soon though). And Hocus Pocus gave me such bad nightmares as a child(the dude cuts his stitched mouth open with a knife). I'm a weenie, I know.
I really wanna suck it up though and try to watch Hocus Pocus this year.

  6. I JUST finished watching Hocus Pocus with my grandkids! We watched Goonies a couple of weeks ago... and I couldn't agree with you more. Even though isn't a "Halloween Movie" it still has the feel of a Fall movie. I'm glad I found you on the follower's fest! I hope you stop by and leave me a note and follow if you find something you like. :)

  7. I've never seen hocus pocus! It sounds like the perfect movie to round out my halloween movie marathon - I've been watching way to many scary ones!

As for costume, going with last years angel costume, I don't want to scare the little guys when handing out candy :)
