summer is best experienced in a dress

My sister Grace is staying with us for a few weeks here in Cambridge. She gets to be my critic and for these pictures she asked "Why are you tilted? Are you slumped in all of these pictures?" Bad posture check from a teenager. (Wohn wohn.)

Staying home most days to work at a computer has made me realize why so many people who work from home still follow a set schedule of exercising, showering and dressing like normal. On the days that I do follow a schedule I feel more productive, more excited and more me.

What makes you feel your best?

  1. Routine is always a good thing, isn't it? The Summer Olympics are sure messing with my routine and I'm not sure it's a good thing!

I love this dress. You look beautiful in it!

  4. It took me soooo long to become disciplined when I started working from home.
You look just lovely here, Alison. Very womanly. :)

  5. you are so right! routine is sometimes the best reliever of stress and chaos. whenever i'm i'm at all stressed out, i tell myself i should just go for a run. a good run seems to solve just about anything (even when it originally seemed like the very least fun thing to do at the time). love your shoes!

    1. Sometimes you have to force yourself to do what you know will make you feel good afterwards. At least I do.

  6. I like to think I'm pretty good with keeping to my schedule but sometimes heap too much on myself, so allowing myself to do nothing makes me feel like getting back into things the next day. I think I need to remember that.

  7. I just love this a million times down to the detail of the little slip peeking out. Oh, the little details are the best! And the shoes. Shoes are of course, the best as well.

  8. As IF you made this dress yourself, it's gorgeous!! I am also a fan of your shoes- kind of like a cooler Kate Middleton. Everything about this outfit suits you so perfectly.

And I freak out a little bit without a routine, I've currently got three weeks between my last job ending and my new one starting, and after a few days of lounging around bored out of my mind, I've started forcing myself to wake up at a normal work time (even though there's no need) and actually setting myself things to accomplish that day- whether it's tidying up the apartment or visiting the museum or doing some research for my degree. I like having a proper schedule, even if I'm having to make one up at the moment xx
