I feel a bit buried under unpacked boxes, still to be unpacked boxes and the plethora of other things I need to do. At the same time, there is something so completing and settling in unwrapping the newspapers from around our glass canisters that usually hold our various baking flours or seeing our sheets and pillowcases for the first time in months. The cushions are newer, but already part of our home. Souvenirs, tangible remembrances of our time abroad.
I needed a break from internet scouring and box cutting and photographing these bits was the perfect escape. We've been house-sitting while we waited to move into our own place and that's turned out better than we could have imagined because instead of settling in I've been occupied trying to find jobs and then starting a new job; which has been a difficult, frustrating and miraculous undertaking on its own and deserving of a separate post. Here's to hoping everything will be in its place soon.
That makes so much sense to me! Settling in, finding a place to everything is kind of an obsession for me. So if I had just moved in to a new place, I wouldn't be able to tear my attention away from settling in long enough to do anything else. So, I can see how temporary house sitting would really help that situation! Glad to see things are going well for you guys.
ReplyDeleteOh, and PS: we became obsessed with Sherlock after you guys told us about it. And now we blame you for the torture of waiting for the next season.
