The bat-creature

Dress/Belt/Earrings: Thrifted, Tights: Target, Cardigan: Coldcreek, Hat: Mommed, Shoes: Ebay

These shoes, and any pointy toe shoes, always remind me of the book and movie Witches. If you haven't seen it, don't watch it alone.

In honor of Halloween (Happy Halloween everyone!) I thought I would share a slightly scary dream that I had.

Suffice it to say there was a road trip, some friends, Nick, although we weren't married yet in the dream, and a shady hotel/motel/cabin place we stayed after driving all day. I don't know where we were going or what the significance of Nick and me not being married was. I'm not even sure who most of the supporting characters were in the dream. But, the important part happened late at night in the dream.

Some of the people were sleeping while the rest of us were hanging out in the kitchen/front room area when I saw a spider. Instinct kicked in and dream-me walked over to step on said spider. But now it was bigger, with black and yellow lines on it's back.

Dream-me hesitated. The large spider reared up on it's back legs and suddenly I realized that it wasn't a spider but rather a bat-like creature. It started to sidle along the floor towards the screen door. Now that dream-me realized it was a bat, I couldn't kill it. At least not with a shoe. I remember thinking in the dream, you can't step on a mammal to kill it.

Somehow the bat-creature got outside of the screen door and proceeded to dance back and forth from one side of the door to the other with it's wings out stretched in a deep squat. (Whenever I tell this story in person I demonstrate this portion of the dream by doing the bat-creature walk. And I add an angry face to evoke the same emotions that came from the bat-creature. In fact the bat-creature has become a form of punishment in our family. If someone leaves their shoes out or doesn't wash their dish or forgets to bring home candy they may be shunned by the bat-creature dance.)

Moral of the story: don't stay up so late that you are plagued by sleep-exhaustion induced dreams.
